Michael's obituary
Michael “Mickey” Francis Leahey, 75, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family in Kamuela, Hawaii on July 3, 2022, after suffering strokes over eight years ago. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patty, his 3 children, Mikey (Tina), Shannon(Kāʻeo), and Sean(Nicole) and his 4 grandsons, Timothy, Dominic, Brody, and Jax.
Mickey is also survived by his brothers, Jim(Toni), and Chuck Jr., and his sister, Charlee (Ralph),along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mickey was predeceased by his brother, Robbie, his mother, Tibbie, and his father, the legendary sportscaster, Chuck Leahey.
Mickey was a well-known entrepreneur in the food industry in Hawaiʻi and was a proud ʻ65 “first class” graduate of James Campbell High in Ewa Beach on Oʻahu, where he received a baseball scholarship to Santa Clara University. He played baseball all 4 years and subsequently coached for Santa Clara before returning to live in Hawaiʻi.
He was an avid golfer who also enjoyed watching any sport on T.V. with family and friends. He was the PA announcer for the professional Islander Baseball games at Aloha Stadium and had a front office position with the Volcanoes, Hawaiiʻs short-lived professional basketball team.
