Mike's obituary

Michael Stephen Korin, 56 of Crystal Lake Illinois passed away on June 9th 2020.

Mike Korin was born on November 26th 1963 and adopted into the family of Stephen and Susan Korin.
In 1991 Mike married Lydia Anne Johnson of Bolingbrook Illinois daughter of Alvin and Latricia Johnson.
Mike is survived by His father Stephen L. Korin and brother Timothy Korin (Susan Korin)
He is also survived by his nieces and nephews;Steve Lundy, Andrew Wallace, Rebecca Wallace, Jacob Potter, Luke Potter, Caitlin Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Camryn Johnson, Brooke Johnson, Ethan Johnson, Anna Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Paige and Parker Korin.

Mike was preceded in death by his daughter Erica Ashley Korin in 2002 and his beautiful wife of 17 years, Lydia Anne Korin-Johnson in June of 2008 as well as his mother Susan Korin in 2012. Mike’s beloved dogs Tal and Boo also preceded his passing.

Mike was deeply loved and tolerated by his late wife Lydia Anne Korin-Johnson until she passed in June of 2008. When Mike and Lydia married the spring of 1991 the Johnson family knew that this new couple were simply made for one another. The two complimented each other in a way that is still hard to explain today. Lydia’s parents knew that with Mike as her husband they never again had to worry for their daughter, as Mike would always insure her best provision, care and protection. He was a faithful loving husband until Lydia’s last day.
Mike was also a loving father to Erica Ashley Korin born on November 21st 2002. Erica was not given breath in her physical body upon birth, but rather the breath of Jesus when He was the first face she saw in her heavenly body. Mike was enthralled to become a father as he always desired a child and someone who shared his bloodline. Erica was his deepest joy and next to Lydia, his saddest loss. Those who loved Mike are confident that he is dancing with Lydia and Erica while worshiping their Creator today as a family.
If he’s staying in Lydia’s good graces right now he is also enjoying her amazing homemade apple pie and at a table spread with all of her delicious recipes.
As Mike’s family we also knew him as stubborn and bull headed. He would hold an argument over religion and theology and not back down. We knew his persistence and strong will was also why Lydia loved him. He was consistent with love and devotion for their marriage and she always knew he was her steady hand during her hardest fought days of breast cancer.
Mike was a giver, a hugger, a dancer at weddings, gentle with children and listened to them intently, he was an avid science fiction reader with a library full of his best read treasures, his favorite sport to play was golf and his only sport team to watch was undeniably the Minnesota Vikings. Mike enjoyed playing poker with his friends and most likely robbing them of their cash in a long night of cards. He enjoyed a good cigar and sitting on his deck with his two favorite dogs, Tal and Boo.
Mike was a very private man. However, the most important thing you should know about Mike Korin is something that he deeply wishes he could tell you today. Several years ago he very privately told a family member that he accepted who God was and knew that because of that decision he would spend eternity with his beloved Lydia and Erica. He didn’t want this to be public knowledge while living, but I dare say that if he could whisper to us from heaven he would want all readers of this obituary to know that God is indeed real and Jesus' sacrifice has saved all mankind giving everyone the hope of eternal life. Mike now knows in his fullness and complete body, without any physical pain, that the most important matter to settle on earth before death is your relationship with the Living God of creation. Our family will miss Mike’s smile, laughter and warmth until we see him again.
