Mike's obituary

Michael John Mason, 66, passed away on November 2, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri. Born on December 26, 1958, Mike lived with a fierce spirit and a generous heart that left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.

Known by many as the strong tough guy—unyielding in character and strong in will—Mike was also deeply devoted to his family and close friends. Outgoing and fun-loving, he had a magnetic presence that made him the life of any gathering. His quick wit and sharp sense of humor were legendary; he never missed an opportunity to crack a joke or speak his mind with refreshing honesty.

Mike’s passions reflected both his rugged nature and his warmth. He found joy in building fast motors and racing—a pursuit that combined speed with craftsmanship—and took great pride in sharing meals he cooked himself. Fishing brought him peace, offering quiet moments amid the energy he so often brought into every room while shooting pool was a great love of his also.

He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Lola Diane Carpenter; nieces Kym Harris (Michael); Christine Coleman (Eddie); Renee Kennedy; Sheri and Kelly Bush; nephews Giovanni Laurenti; Phil Laurenti; Bobby Carpenter; as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin P. Mason and Evelyna Mason; his brothers, Bob Perry Mason and David Mason; his sister, Sally Standley; and his beloved son, Michael John Mason II.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 23, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Parrot's Bar & Grill, 2951 N. St. Peters Pkwy., in the upstairs private area. Guests are invited to share memories, stories, eat and drink while paying respects—Uncle Mike’s last wishes were for everyone to come together and laugh and celebrate him!

May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
