Background
This Memorial Fund will help provide support for those with Autism, social disabilities, and social anxiety helping them to participate in social activities (i.e. museums, science camps, movie nights, video game expos, basic car and house maintenance, healthy eating ect...) with likeminded individuals. Mike's son, who suffers with social anxiety, was diagnosed as a teen and Mike made it his mission to provide the best life he could for him. As an avid woodworker and house-builder, Mike saw that too often those with Anxiety and Autism would be placed in a group home that was not equip to handle their specific needs. Therefore, it was extremely important to Mike that those with social disorders needed proper housing and a safe space that could support their needs. This Fund will carry on Mike's mission to allow not only his son, but other young adults in Rhode Island to have a broad support network of safe housing options while trying to break them out of their shells and have a brighter future.
Mike was an Electrical Engineer at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI for 40 years. He loved building anything and everything, always working on houses which he built a large addition onto his main residence in Coventry, RI. Mike also enjoyed building hobby drones, walking and biking the Coventry bike path, watching the sunrise at Burlingame campsite and drinking coffee.
