Michael was instrumental in my marriage to Maria. In 1991 after we graduated from Hampton University, Maria went to live in Atlanta with her sister. I was back home in Alexandria and missing Maria terribly. I was so scared that I would lose her while she was away but being fresh out of college, I could not afford to go see her. As I spoke to Michael, he could see that I was sick with grief about the whole situation. He said (while laughing at me), “Boy... you really love that girl don’t you?” It was obvious I did as I nodded to confirm. He asked me how much I needed to go down there and I said at least $200. He laughed at me some more but then reached into his wallet and pulled out 3 Franklin’s. He handed it to me and said, “Go get your lady”. We hugged as I shed a tear. I left 2 days later for Atlanta. Maria and I got married a couple of a couple of years later. Thanks cuz. You were always there for me. You will never be forgotten.

I only got to meet Mr. Michael on one occasion. It was during Randy and Kylah’s wedding. He was a funny person and seemed to be very much loved and respected by his family.
