In Loving Memory of Michael Francis Gates

Michael Francis Gates, born on May 6th, 1958, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, completed his earthly journey on July 15th, 2023, in Broomfield, Colorado, surrounded by his loving children. While we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the incredible person he was and the enduring impact he had on our lives.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Michael, Meaghan and Seth, along with his grandchildren, Violet, Fiona, and William. He is also survived by his brother, Larkin Gates, and his former spouse and close friend, Kathleen Quinn. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Gates, and his beloved brothers, Billy and Eddie Gates.

After graduating from Colorado State University, Michael dedicated his professional career to serving the agricultural sector, with a special interest in fleet management and finance. Throughout his career, Michael's determination and unwavering dedication were evident as he skillfully closed deals and provided valuable assistance to others. His lighthearted nature brought joy and laughter to those around him, injecting spontaneous jokes into many situations.

Michael's lifelong passion for the natural world and his enthusiasm for plants were integral to his life. From an early age, he shared the wonders of nature with his children, instilling within them a deep love and appreciation for the environment. Michael found solace and delight in the breathtaking beauty of Colorado's serene foothills, spending countless hours fishing and hiking.

Above all else, Michael was dedicated to his family. His greatest source of joy in life was ensuring the happiness and well-being of his children and grandchildren. Wholeheartedly committed to this endeavor, he succeeded in leaving a lasting legacy that continues to shape the lives of those he held dear. The family stands stronger today because of his profound influence, and his absence leaves an irreplaceable void.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Michael's life will be held on Monday July 24th, starting with a formal service at 2pm at Darrell Howe Mortuary, followed by a reception at The Establishment at Bradburn Village from 4-7pm. Though he is no longer with us, his love, wisdom, and unwavering devotion will be forever cherished.
