Kiera, my deepest sympathy on the passing of your Dad. Mike & I worked together for a number of years (Centra & Hydro) we had some fun, great stories and pranks.
I have known the Garrity family since kindergarten and spent lots of time at their house growing up. I was surprised when Kiera graduated from high school with my son,  so was able to run into him and the family during that and had a great visit with him in June at our local Chickendaze event. I was so excited after that visit and we left each other with a big hug and a see you soon 💕

Dear Kiera, my thoughts are with you, I remember the special relationship you and your Dad shared.  I hope your memories of him give you comfort in the days ahead. 💚

There are so many stories, and Mike was the ultimate storyteller. One night after playing late hockey, Mike broke an axle on the truck about a half mile from home.

Not wanting to disturb anyone, he called his local mechanic. The two of them came with flashlights into the dark country yard, and entered the barn and garage, looking for tools etc.

Kiera noticed something was going on in the yard in the dark, and called the police. Being rural, and letting the dispatcher know this was a potential break-in or home invasion in progress, they kept her on the line and dispatched for cars from different detachments.

By this time, Mike and Chris had walked back to the truck. Imagine their surprise when across the flat Prairie on the grid roads they could see flashing lights coming at them from all directions.

They were told to put their hands behind their head and lean on the vehicle. Police stayed with them.

Next thing you know there’s police at the door, verifying our safety and confirming Mike’s identity as the owner of the truck.

We all had a good laugh but the adrenaline rush for all led to a sleepless night!

I feel so bad for you and  the rest of the family. It's taken some nasty hits in such a short span of time. My heart goes out to you guys. I love you all.
I remember cutting Mikes hair faithfully every 3-4 weeks letting me try new things anll the time even putting his hair in 20 ponytails and designing his new cut . In a salon full of people he had fun  and how much he loved hard Rock concerts golf , and most of all .,,, his family . Condolences to all …. Goulet
I remember before Sherri and mike were married I think.. I got to go over to Mike's mom and dad's house with sherri and Mike was bragging about his man cave and bedroom in the basement and showed me it.. I think he might of still lived there then.. Mike would brag that he still had 8 track tapes and an 8 track machine his dad fixed up and still worked.. and showed me it cuz I didn't believe him..mainly the memories I have of Mike were of him smiling, laughing, telling awesome stories of his youth.. funny stories about his family.. some about jackie or his mom or Bobby his baba.. I don't remember Mike ever being serious. Mike will always be apart of me. I will miss him. 👍😢🙂❤️❤️

Kiera my words cannot ever express how sad I am you lost your Dad. He adored you even before you were born. You have a wonderful and unique bond and so many shared memories. From a mother's point of view I have so many great memories of seeing you together - from the Metallica lyrics and photo of Annika Sorenson LPGA above your crib (sorry Mike, she never did take to golf) to taking you to Ringette (that didn't stick either LOL), all the movies, Comicon and all the "BS" chats you had as an adult sharing an apartment. You found all the things you both enjoyed together and I see so much of him in you. Even though he didn't know where you were half the time (Father of the Year recent joke - Lynn Canyon is not camping in Manitoba) and talked to your closed door when you weren't home, you were and always will be forever with him and him with you. He was a great guy and the best father I could have ever wished for you. The memories and all the people posting on this page you created show just how many people enjoyed and loved him. He is so proud of you and  will be watching you from outer space or the void or the time space continuum to see where life takes you.

Mike was the ultimate storyteller and there are also many great ones about Mike and Kiera.

One night after playing late OOHA hockey, Mike broke an axel on his truck about a 1/4 mile from home. Not wanting to disturb the sleeping household he called the local mechanic. With flashlights they looked in the garage and shed to locate something needed.

Having a view from her window, Kiera saw lights and heard rustling around. She called 911. Believing there was a potential home invasion in progress and a young girl calling, they immediately dispatched 4 cars from 4 different detachments and kept her on the line to report status and accompany her.

By this time, Mike and Chris had walked back to the truck. Both dressed in dark clothes and wearing gloves, carrying flashlights, imagine their surprise to see across the flat open Prairie, flashing lights approaching from all directions.

They surrounded the vehicle, asked them to put their hands behind back and held them on the hood of the truck. While held, they sent a car to the house. I was awoken to the sound of Jaxon growling - he put himself between the cop and Kiera - the most usually goofy and docile dog ever. She woke me up as the police had questions and was  asked to confirm Mike's identify. I had slept through the whole event until then as Kiera so responsibly handled it all!

When all was settled everyone had a good laugh, but not a lot of sleep was had after this 2 am adrenaline rush!

One of many great Kiera and Mike stories.
