Michael's obituary

In Loving Memory of Michael Frank

January 2, 1958 – February 19, 2025

With heavy hearts and big smiles, we say goodbye to Michael Frank, who passed away on February 19, 2025, at 67 years old. He was the life of the party, a lover of sports, a man of big laughs, and a friend to all.

Michael, better known as "Moke," leaves behind his loving wife of 27 years, Laila, and their three children: Brian (and his wife Isabelle), Alex, and Darius (and his wife Veronica), along with his grandchildren, Leo and Mollie. He was also a brother to Lee (and his wife Bessie, and their daughter Maya), sister to the late Fern, and a son to the late Bob and Midy Frank. Moke's legacy will live on through the countless friends who loved and admired him.

Known for his successful career as a bankruptcy attorney, he was a master of his craft and highly respected not only in South Florida but also by those he taught at lectures across the country. For many years, he earned the admiration and respect of countless colleagues and peers in the bankruptcy world.

Moke worked hard but also knew how to have a great time. He was a proud Pi Lambda Phi brother at the University of Florida, where he made lifelong friends who loved him like family. He also took on the role of coach to anyone who needed it, spreading his love for sports and life.

Moke had a special talent for making everyone around him laugh. Whether it was over a drink or a juicy burger at a football game tailgate, he was always the one keeping the good times rolling. He was known for his famous “Moke Juice,” a drink that brought people together, just like Moke did. His stubbornness was legendary, but it was always paired with an infectious smile and a heart full of love. If you knew Michael, you knew there was always food, drinks, and a ton of fun to be had.

He loved to travel the world, and wherever he went, he made friends. He never met a stranger and always knew how to make a connection. Whether you knew him from Pi Lam, from coaching, or just from having a good time together, he made a lasting impression.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 8th, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The American Legion, 7710 SW 59th Avenue, Miami, FL 33143. In true Moke fashion, we’re keeping it casual—wear your Canes and Gators gear to honor his love for both teams!

He will always be remembered for his love of life, his bigger-than-life personality, and the endless laughter he brought to everyone. Rest in peace Moke —you were one of a kind, and you’ll never be forgotten.
