It is always hard to say good-bye to the special people in our lives. To all who knew him (Uncle Mickey) better than I, know that my heart aches for your loss. Tracy Wall (Fortier)
I am so grateful for the time I spent with uncle Mickey during our 30-year Fortier family reunion in 1994 and since then. He would text me every time he saw news from northern California, from the fires to the floods, just checking in to see if me and my family were doing ok. He told me a lot about my father Walter when they were kids in Port Arthur and when they went to the Indian Residential School at St Joseph in Fort William, now Thunder Bay. Uncle Mickey told me about meeting the famed Ojibway artist Norval Morrisseau at a gathering in Red Rock, ON before he got famous and how Mickey passed up the opportunity to purchase an original Morrisseau painting for mere dollars and regretted it ever since. Uncle Mickey had a great sense of humor and he just laughed it off as one of life's missed opportunities. We will miss you uncle, RIP. James M Fortier
