There was truly none other like the great Mike Epps.  He had such a heart for his family, Carson City, and the music community.  He had a way of sharing his heart and connecting with each of us so deeply.  He was more than a friend.  He was like a brother to so many.

He was deeply spiritual, had a vision and heart of gold; did all he could to make this world a better place.  He loved a good, heart-to-heart conversation, and made time for these with dozens of people on a regular basis.  Just like a brother, he could be a pain in the butt at times too,  hiding and jumping out to scare you, or defending his right to smoke despite the obvious risks.  He brought so much good to the world though!  We all wished he could live forever.  His humor, his heart, his music, and his love will always be cherished; truly forever remembered.

Mike wanted nothing more than to see every person share their gifts and talents with the world.  He helped countless musicians with his sincere encouragement, feedback, help with instruments, recording, open mics, concerts, fliers and promotions.  How many musicians flourished with his help!

He loved his family beyond words, spending much time with them and working with his daughter, April, at their family owned business, A to Zen.  His youngest daughter, Emma, was always by his side behind the counter as well.  His wife, Meredith, frequently dropped in to hug and support her hubby and kids.   Sweetest lady ever, and such a lovely couple they were!  His family was clearly at the core of his life.  Our deepest condolences go out to  Mike’s beautiful wife and four beloved children.

If you were ever in store while Mike was behind the counter cooking for his family he’d offer you some of whatever he was making.  He was kind, generous, funny, and had an absolutely unforgettable laugh and mischievous grin.  When he played his guitar and sang it was absolutely angelic.  Such soothing music came from that man’s heart!

Mike’s legacy and impact on everyone who knew him will ripple out infinitely and immeasurably.  He will be FOREVER loved and missed.  Carson City won’t be the same without our beloved Mike Epps.  We love you Mike!  We’re all so grateful to have gotten to share this world with you!  Knowing you, you’re singing with the angels now!
