Michael's obituary
Michael Edmonds, 65, of Stuart, FL, passed away November of 2022 after a battle with cancer.
Michael was born on to Samuel and Frances in Missouri. He spent his childhood in Togo, Africa with his family. Michael adored his older sister Pam and baby sister Darlene. He was always a protective brother and took great pride in taking care and looking after his precious sisters. He was lucky to become close friends and eventually gain two brothers in Terry, Pam’s husband and Brandon, Darlene’s husband. Michael returned to the United States for his senior year of high school and was awarded a college scholarship to play soccer for Old Dominion in Virginia. Michael was quite the soccer star in college, holding several school records and accolades. After graduation, he worked in finance for his entire career. Watching the stock markets was one of his favorite hobbies. In high school Michael met Lisa, and they wed going on to have three daughters and fourteen grandchildren! Michael has been affectionately referred to as Poppy since 2004. Poppy would always tell his grandkids, “Guess what? Poppy loves you!” and the grandkids continue to repeat this saying back and forth.
Michael was a force of nature! Even up till his last days, his Hospice nurses said he was a “piece of work.” He was unendingly proud of his three daughters Sarah, Ann Hunter and Katherine and always tried his best to support them. Michael was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma on his nose. It metastasized quickly within a year. After being told his options and trying an experimental drug, Libtayo, Michael opted to enter Hospice care and enjoy the months he had left to live doing things his way! Michael and his close family arranged a Living Celebration of Life in lieu of a traditional funeral. The family enjoyed a staycation in Stuart, Florida where his sister Darlene and his brother-in-law Brandon came to stay for a long weekend. The family gathered for cook outs, boat rides, pool days and relaxation. Michael even took a joy ride in a friend’s Lamborghini. Michael will join his father, mother and sister in their family plot in South Carolina where the extended family can continue to gather for generations to come.
The family requests that all support be considered to Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida.
