Michael's obituary
Our son, our brother, our nephew and grandson, Michael Durr passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022. He was 25 years old.
Michael was born on July 5, 1996 in Overland Park, Kansas. He was raised as a child of three until 2004 when he gained two bonus siblings, who all together formed the “Fab Five.” From a young age, Michael had a gift for humor, constantly making his family and friends laugh.
In just 25 years of life, Michael made a mark on those around him. His individualism was a marker of his personality, and he had an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age, starting businesses like collecting pine cones in yards, placing gum-ball machines in restaurants, and power washing. It was no surprise when Michael sought a skill which he could turn into a thriving business that he became a successful barber. His clients often said that their time in his chair was “more than a cut” and “more like a therapy session.” He was especially wonderful with children’s cuts, keeping them entertained and laughing through the entire experience.
In recent years, Michael was growing into the next phase of his life, making plans to start a family and connecting to his faith. He dreamt of becoming self-sustaining and creating a home where he could grow food and raise chickens, all while dressed in his ideal look, modern swag with a Southern twist.
Michael is survived by his parents, Tony Durr and Jessica Hodge, his bonus-dad, Richard Hodge, his younger brothers, Christian Durr and Kasey Hodge, his big sisters, Olivia Durr and Kelsey Hodge, his grandparents, Gerard and Betty Durr, Linda Whittington, and Ann and Bob Hodge, his girlfriend, Alejandra Garza, and his best friends and partners in business endeavors, Bryce Ridgeway and Bryar Calhoun.
