Michael's obituary

Michael Duane Ward, 84, of Walnut Creek, California, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born with a friendly spirit and a strong work ethic, Mike lived a life rooted in family and service to others. He grew up in Santa Barbara and later moved to San Francisco, where he graduated from the University of San Francisco. Mike went on to build a fulfilling career in contract negotiations and procurement for the City and County of San Francisco where he also retired.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Diane Ward, and their three children, Wendi Moradian (Rick), Christopher Ward (Lauren), and Dina Trombettas (Clyde). He was a proud grandfather to Sophia Biel (Matthew), Tyler Ward, Julia Collins (Billy), Lucia Moradian, Alexandra Trombettas, and Angelo Trombettas; and a loving great-grandfather to Matteo Biel and Owen Collins. He is also survived by his sister Marylynn Rohrbach and her spouse Jan. His family meant everything to him and he found immense joy in watching each generation grow.

In his retirement, Mike loved to spend time with his grandkids, travel the world, and volunteer in his local community. His humor, friendly nature, and humility touched the lives of many.

Mike will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his light-hearted spirit and unwavering devotion, support, and love for his family.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul. The donation website is: https://sjtbc.us/donatesvdp
