The true story of how Mike and Julie met:
At the end of management training in Omaha, Mike was returning to Chicago via a stop in St. Louis. Judy True boarded the plane at the time, after visiting her fiance ; she also lived in the Chicago suburbs. Mike sympathetically relinquished his seat to a woman with a crying baby; he wanted to sit next to Judy. After several bottles of airplane wine and lots of laughter, he asked if she needed a ride home. She declined, saying her dad was picking her up. When they briefly passed each other again, and she gave him her phone number.
A few weeks later, Mike called the number to ask her if she'd like to go out. They set a date and time, then waited. Just before he was to show up, Judy washed her hair, then told her twin sister, Julie, that she'd have to go on the date instead. Their mother was having a conversation with Mike while Julie very quickly got ready. Julie joined the conversation, and somehow it lead to talk about how their parents had met each other.
They went to a bar in Mike's MGB sports car to have a few drinks, and ended up talking about politics. He thought watching Young Frankenstein, at the Woodfield theater, would be fun, and he drove us there. When he parked the car I said" I have to confess, I'm Julie, not Judy; you can take me home now if you wish." He laughed, and said "Let's go see the movie!"
Much later, Judy said she'd have dated him herself if she wasn't engaged, and knew I'd like him, too.
