Michael “Mike” Steven DeRitter passed away on April 18th, 2024 at the Hospice Care at Morristown Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer and becoming ill with pneumonia. He was 54 when he passed. Mike was born at Saint Clares Hospital in Denville NJ to Ronald and Carol DeRitter on January 31st, 1970.

He lived in Denville most of his life playing little league baseball with his brother John and his father Ronald as a coach. He was a graduate of Morris Knolls HS in 1989. In 2002 he moved to Budd Lake after his marriage to Lisa Mathena. Mike and Lisa then moved in 2017 into assisted living at Troy Hills in Parsippany. Mike had an avid love for heavy metal music, gardening, WWE, Baseball, Football, and Nascar. He enjoyed going to the Poconos Raceway every year. His favorite NASCAR racer was #11, Denny Hamlin. Mike co-owned a Billiards called “Boulder Dans” with his brother John, where he worked until he had a stroke. Mike and his brother John both loved the show “The Flintstones”, which is how they got the name for their business.

Mike was always the type of person to want to help people out, always being there for his family. Mike always wanted to do the most for the people he loved and showed that in many ways. One of Mike’s favorite things to do was take pictures of his family and have pictures be taken so he could keep the memories with him.
