Michael's obituary
My parents had me later in life than was the norm for the 80’s. My parents had a larger age gap between each other than is typically normal. My parents both had families before they met, married and had me. Thus, we became a big, beautiful blended family with all 7 of us kids spread out across many ages. I have always loved the unique family I grew up in, even if it meant I had to face the reality that I would say goodbye to my dad earlier than I wanted to.
When Ted met my dad 12 years ago and they eventually played a game of racquetball (Dad’s passion as many of you know) together, Ted came home and admitted that Dad, at the age of 82, had wiped the floor with him. 😆 He played racquetball several years into his nineties and still visited the Golden Rec Center for light exercise until a few months before he passed.
In 2017, we celebrated Dad’s 90th birthday with friends and family around. In July of this year, we celebrated Dad turning 94. And on October 25th, 2021 at 3:17pm (my birthdate is 3/17), we unexpectedly said goodbye to my Michael David Martin - Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Friend.
He lived an incredible life and touched many peoples’ lives. He was memorable to everyone, especially with his very English accent.🥰 He was a loving, devoted Husband, one-of-a-kind Father and unforgettable Grandpa. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn, all 7 kids, 15 Grandkids and 2 Great Grandkids.
