Sending warm thoughts of love and remembrance of this kind and generous man, Monique's father. Through the years Monique and her whole family have been on my mind - fond memories! I cherish my childhood friendship with Monique, and smile thinking warmly of Mikey and her parents. I remember always knowing when Monique's dad was around because the energy in the room bumped up a few notches and things felt Extra. :) Hugs and harmony to you and your family, Mo! ~ Jo (Mock)

I'm so sorry to hear about my cousins passing.

Much love family

We got to know Michael when our kids were in the marching band in Jr. High and Sr. High.  We enjoyed talking, telling/listening to stories during the various band activities.  His infectious smile/laugh is one thing I will never forget. Rest in Peace my brother Michael!

Where do I begin? So many memories…so many stories! Some I was a part of-some that were just legend Michael C. Houston stories! How many times did I hear about you melting something in the oven because you had been using it as a drying rack? Or you running out of the house with a baby Monique because you had heard a noise and there was no way you were taking any chances after having recently watched The Exorcist. Car upholstery mishaps! (iykyk haha.) Oh how I’ll miss your booming laugh when we’d relive and retell these stories. Those are just a few of my favorites that will always make me laugh!

Thank you for some of the best meals of my life…I love how you put so much passion into your cooking. Your gumbo was out of this world!

On a more sentimental note, I will always cherish how you watched out for and took care of me. Throughout all of junior high and high school you always treated me as another daughter. And then when I moved to SF, you made sure to measure and cut wooden sticks to fit the tracks of my windows and sliding glass doors to help keep me safe. You were always available to help me navigate the city and your advice was invaluable! Thank you for being more of a dad to me than my own. Thank you for the sass you passed down to Monique 😉 and your other traits that live on in her and make me love her as much as I do. I’m so glad my kids got the chance to meet you, and I am so grateful to have had you in my life. ❤️

My deepest condolences.  The first time I met Monique's dad he always treated me like I was one of the family.  I was lucky enough to spend a few holidays with him and he always made sure I felt welcomed and part of the family.   Thank you ❤️

The fond memories start from marching band at Solano Jr. High (with Mikey) up until my early adult years running into you at Kaiser while at work…I’ll miss your big hugs and warm smiles. Sending the biggest hugs to Auntie Gloria, Mo and Mikey! May your soul rest happily in paradise Uncle Mike!

There are so many memories....a lot of them revolve around cooking. I can remember sitting at the kitchen table with you watching you chop vegetables for whatever masterpiece you were making. You'd give me little bites of this or that. You once tricked me into eating a raw cranberry! My favorite story is about the first time I tried to make mashed potatoes. I was about 9. I peeled and cut the potatoes and put them in the pot. But you fell asleep....I couldn't remember if water was supposed to go in the pot so I ran over to the couch to wake you up, "Daddy!!! Do I put water in the pot?" Your response was, "No". LOL! Well of course, pretty soon the smell of scorched potatoes permeated the apartment and I ran over to turn off the stove and move the pot. But I panicked and didn't put the pot on a potholder and burned a ring into the kitchen table. Mom walked in the door and I told her what happened....You got in so much trouble for allowing me to cook while you slept. We have laughed about that ever since. Every time I pick up a knife and cutting board, I will think of you. (People laugh at me for bringing my own knives to their houses.) Thanks for instilling in me my love of cooking and entertaining. I promise to master your merliton in the near future!!! Love you Daddy....
