Michael's obituary
On Sunday, August 14 th , 2022, Michael "Mike" "Mikey" James Burke, a loving husband, father, son, and dear friend, passed away at the age of 59. Michael was cared for with great dignity and kindness by his family, loyal friends and his care team at Signature Hospice at Home, but ultimately lost his brave battle to cancer. Michael was born on April 20th, 1963, in Twin Falls ID, to Patricia (Patti) Burke.
Michael spent the majority of his life in the beautiful Willamette Valley, where we made lifelong friends, married his wife, Louise Burke, and raised his two stepdaughters as if they were his own. Michael was a true family man, and was always committed to being the best son, brother, husband, and dad.
Mike was an incredible asset over his 20-year career at Omlid & Swinney. He was one of the people who established the low voltage electrical division and his vast expertise led him to many roles, such as Project Manager, Estimator, and Designer. Mike always had a large impact on the many employees around him and was integral in developing the apprentices under his supervision. Mike built great relationships with his co-workers and the contractors he worked with. Mike's great attitude and good energy will always be missed and never replaced.
Michael was a creative man with a passion for adventure, he was a skilled motocross rider, avid camper, outdoor enthusiast, and animal lover. Michael loved to learn and could teach himself anything, as was evident in the home he designed and built for his family amongst the pines in the outskirts of Eugene. Michael’s contagious sense of humor and kind nature made him a friend to anyone he met and contributed to his many successful lifelong friendships. Michael was a, kind, loyal, intelligent, curious, intuitive, protective, thoughtful man.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Sam Burke. Michael is survived by his wife, Louise, his two daughters, Rebecca Twyerould (& Mia) Georgia Twyerould, his mother Patti Burke, his sister Laurie Craviotto, brother in-law, Kevin, as well as his niece Caitlyn Craviotto, nephew Cameron Craviotto, several cousins, and many loyal, dear friends.
Homage to his memory at Greenhill Humane Society, Cancer Foundation or charity of your choice. No formal remembrance has been planned at this time.
