With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Michael "Scott" Billaud, a man of great personality, wit, and spirit, who left us on August 6, 2024. He was born on November 16, 1950, and was better known to friends and family as Scott.
Scott was a beloved father to his son Lukas Sochovka-Billaud and daughter Skyla Sochovka-Billaud. He also leaves behind his brother Roby Billaud, as well as his cherished niece Tamara Ann Stratton and nephew Shaun Billaud. Scott was predeceased by his father Henry Louis Billaud, his mother Patricia Leona Billaud (Peterson), his wife Jackie Billaud (Jackson/Branson), and his brother Walt Phillips.
Scott was an amiable and active man, admired greatly for his fine wood craftsmanship. An accomplished carpenter, he was the owner of Coyote Door and Hardware in Apple Valley, demonstrating his great talent. Beyond his professional life, Scott was an acclaimed golfer and as a youth was an astounding baseball player. He also was a passionate admirer of the desert's tranquility and grandeur.
He was a lover of Blues and rock and roll and was an excellent harmonica player. Scott was a huge supporter of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Dodgers, and an avid player of poker. His favorite recreational activities included golfing and watching sports. He enjoyed hiking and liked vacationing in Oregon and Las Vegas. He also loved a road trip adventure, and traveled to visit friends in far off places whenever he could
Scott's vibrant personality was best described as fun, kind, adventurous, warm, and spirited. He will be remembered as a man of noteworthy achievements. Scott was the proud winner of the first-ever member-guest Golden Horn Westlund Open Golf Tournament and the Wild Flower Golf Tournament. His proudest legacy, however, is his children Lukas and Skyla, and his fine wood craftsmanship.
A celebration of Scott's life will be held on October 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Apple Valley Golf Course. This gathering will serve as a heartfelt reminder of the love and warmth that Scott brought into our lives.
