Michael's obituary
Michael David Betz III, born and passed July 13, 2022 becoming an angel in heaven.
Survived by his mother Brooke Betz, father Michael Betz Jr., sisters McKinleigh and Paisley Betz, and many loving friends and family.
We will never forget the day we found out mom was pregnant. Mom took a pregnancy test and after three minutes we looked and it was negative so we said okay not pregnant yet! I (dad) woke up in the middle of the night and I could not go back to sleep, something was telling me I needed to look at that pregnancy test again. I pulled it out of the trash and saw it was positive! I woke mom up at 3AM to show her the exciting news. We were so excited celebrating in the middle of the night, mom even stayed up for another hour making a baby registry!
Once we found out we were having a boy we were so happy and shocked mom was calling all her doctors confirming we read the results correctly and it wasn’t a mistake! We were so excited to tell everyone we are having a boy! Everyone was so excited saying, “I cannot wait to go boy shopping” but mom said, “ not so fast! Our son is going to have style so only clothes I approve of!” We were so excited to be able to tell Pop Pop we were keeping the Betz name going with Michael III. He was so excited and said, “Well I think it is time to come out of football coaching retirement already!” I told mom, “ it is time to strategize where we live for when he plays football!” All of our family and friends were so excited for us, we were making big plans for Michael already!
Everyone wants to make it out of the first trimester and then you feel safe, so we got through that first trimester and felt great and had nothing else to worry about right? Not quite. The 20 week ultrasound is an exciting time when you get to see your baby's features, fingers, toes, ect… We were so excited for the ultrasound to get that one thousand percent confirmation it was a boy since we were still in shock! But the 20 week ultrasound for us was when our world got shattered into pieces. We learned Michael was not okay, he had severe health issues that would make him incompatible with life outside of mom’s body. That day we cried so much our bodies did not have any tears left. It was news no parent should ever have to hear. We were losing our baby boy. All the plans we had for him and our family, realizing that was never going to happen was devastating.
God needed “Mikey” to come home to heaven. Little bubs, you have open arms welcoming you to your new home. Give grandma (Tracy Betz) the best baby cuddles until we meet again. You will never be forgotten. We love you so much buddy.
