In lieu of flowers, please donate toward a memorial bench on the Oakland City University campus near the site of the former Biology building, Brengle Hall, where Mike poured decades of his life into hundreds of students, cultivating in them a love and wonder of the natural world and its Creator. This marble bench will be engraved with his title, Dr. Michael J. Atkinson, Professor of Biology. Its location is both near to Brengle's site, and adjacent to the memorial of his dear friend, the late Dr. Claudine Cutchin. Contribute

Mike completed his 67-year journey on Earth peacefully and surrounded by family in his Oakland City home, his body suddenly ravaged by small cell carcinoma but his heart full of faith, courage, and love.
