Michael's obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Anthony Stango (60) announce his passing on Friday, November 28, 2025. Michael was a devoted husband and family man from Haymarket, Virginia.
Michael was born on May 15, 1965 in Waterbury, Connecticut to Anthony F. Stango and Beverly J. Stango. He graduated from Park View High School in 1983 and worked a successful career as a government contractor.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Kerri Anne Stango, whom he would have celebrated 30 years of marriage with on April 20, 2026. He is further survived by Beverly Stango (Mother), Paul & Kathy Kodosky (Father / Mother in law), Pamela & Marcus DeSouza (Sister / Brother in law), Anthony Stango (Brother), Susan Stango (Sister), Lorri & Michael Potts and Paula & Vincent Diez (Sisters / Brothers in law), Joseph (Virginia) DeSouza, Brandon (Amy) DeSouza, Logan Potts, Nicholas Diez, and Jonathan Diez (Nephews), Kristi (Adam) Riley and Maddeline Potts (Nieces), as well as many more sorrowful family and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Anthony F. Stango.
Michael was a cherished member of the community, and his faith was an integral part of his life. As a devout Roman Catholic, he regularly attended mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. His strong faith and values were a guiding force in his life. No one who met Michael forgot his infectious passion for his interests and hobbies, including fishing, motorcycling, cooking, vacationing, and music. He was a skilled craftsman who was called upon by many for unique and special projects. His greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.
Michael will be remembered for his authentic and genuine kindness, love, generosity, and, above all, his wisdom and humor which were gifts to everyone who knew him.
To honor Michael’s memory, his family requests that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
Friends and family are invited to a Catholic viewing and mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (8213 Linton Hall Road, Gainesville, VA 20155) on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 9:30AM. Following mass will be a graveside burial at Union Cemetery (323 N. King Street, Leesburg, VA 20176).
