Michael's obituary
Michael was born on April 9th, 1948, to Mark & Virginia Graham in Bozeman, Montana. He spent most of his childhood in Medford, Oregon. Brother to Bob, Pat, Rick, and John, Mike’s childhood revolved around the outdoors, sports, cars, minor misbehavior, and faith. A lifelong fascination with mischief earned him a spot in the United States Marine Corps. He served two venerable tours of duty in Vietnam.
Following his military service, Michael married Dianna Ragsdill and moved to Klamath Falls, where he graduated from the Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech). After he and Dianna graduated, they relocated to Portland, Oregon, and had a daughter, Merry Elizabeth. Many years later, Michael moved back to Medford, Oregon, to care for his mother.
A Jack-of-all-trades, Mike had more hobbies and passions than any one person should be allowed, and he was a willing and able teacher who loved to share his knowledge. This made it easy to pick up new friends wherever he was working or playing.
His service as a Marine provided him countless stories that he’d share with friends on the barstools of pool halls throughout Oregon, where he was known as a talented player, a loveable character, and a walking encyclopedia on topics ranging from home improvement, automotive and marine repair, arts, literature, politics, faith, culture, cuisine, cinema, and of course, humor.
Mike’s daughter Merry spent her summers in southern Oregon, where he loved showing her the natural beauty of his home. He could point to any hillside or mountain in the area and share countless stories of overnight camps or hunts with his brothers, friends, and paramours.
Michael is survived by daughter Merry Kearney (Eamonn), Portland, Oregon; brother John Graham, Evergreen, Colorado; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Pat Graham, Rick Graham, and Bob Graham.
The family would like to express the deepest appreciation for all of you who have kept him in your hearts & thoughts through his many years of health concerns. His passing came quickly after many upswings. His positive spirit made it seem like nothing was impossible, and we thank you for your friendship and prayers that supported him.
When it is safe to have an in-person service, we will host an outdoor celebration of life. For details or questions, please reach out to Merry Kearney – 971.678.4529.
