Meshonea's obituary

Meshonea Lynette Fox was a bacon of entertainment, love, loyalty, and charm. On Dec 3, 2023, she passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come. Born on February 19, 1968, in “The City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection”, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Meshonea’s life journey was a testament to passion, dedication, and unwavering love for her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Meashonea, affectionately known as Shoney, was educated in the Philadelphia school system, she graduated from Sister Clara Muhammad School and later attended Community College of Philadelphia. Continuing her academic journey, Meshonea found herself at Philadelphia University, currently known as Thomas Jefferson University, where she majored in Business and earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Shoney’s professional career began at The Company Store on Columbia Ave, (currently known as Cecil B. Moore Ave). The vision of the store was to revitalize the retail scene on the avenue. She worked under the supervision of Councilmember Curtis Jones Jr. She went on to work in various administrative positions, Connections Training as an Admin Assistant, University of Pennsylvania as an Administrator of Student Housing, and finally settled into her career at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) as Office Coordinator of Student Affairs for 16 years.

Beyond her professional life, she enjoyed traveling. She was very fond of good living and a connoisseur of good times, whether it was dining at the city’s finest restaurants or attending the affairs. For a short time, she traveled for the stage play “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide, When the Rainbow is Enuf”. She was an understudy for the character Lady in Red.

Before anything else, Shoney was a devoted mother to her 2 children, always showing them love and support. Early in her life, she followed the Islamic faith. Later she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Shoney. Although she was sure to be late for any event. You knew the fun would begin as she was truly the life of every gathering. She would brighten the room with her infectious laugh and contagious smile. Her laughter echoed through the night, leaving a trail of happiness. Shoney spared no expense when it came to fashion all the way down to her lip gloss. Lips were always poppin' with her favorite Dior gloss.

Meshonea’s life, in its entirety, was a testament to the power of love, education, and resilience. Her impact on the lives of people she worked with and the love she shared with her family and friends will forever be cherished. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

She leaves to mourn her parents; Aaron and Linda Fox, her brother Shaheed Fox (Vanessa Fox), her sister Kilea Fox, her children Tariq Fladger and Najah Randolph, 3 grandchildren, Titus Fladger, Issac Fladger, and Legend Thomas. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.

A loving mother, a dedicated worker, a loyal friend, and a gracious soul, will forever live in our hearts, and our memories will guide us through the years to come.
