THAYER, MERRILL AUGUST JAMES, 77, of Coral Gables, FL, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024 at his home and surrounded by his children. A beloved father to Amy and Jonathan, Merrill was a lifelong resident of Miami and dedicated 36 years to the Miami-Dade Police Department. Merrill found joy in painting and traveling, and in his younger years, pursued his love of racing—a passion that continued to inspire him throughout his life. Known for his quick wit and humor, he will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
