I met Merlin when he lived in Marshall. When Merlin lived in Luverne my dad was living at the vets home there. We were able to get together a lot more then. He became a good friend & companion to my dad also. We had many great phone calls over the years. I miss him. 😢

Often during our time growing up, us kids would spend time with dad over Thanksgiving, Christmas holidays, or summer break . Being from small-town MN most of the things in “the cities” we hadn’t seen before. Some of the highlights that dad exposed us to were Holidazzle parade, Christmas floral display at Bachmann’s, tubing down the Apple River, the Sculpture garden, many of the display stories at Dayton’s, feeding fish off the docks on Lake Harriet, and most importantly — no trip was complete without buying cereal in bulk at Sam’s Club.
