Merilida's obituary
Merilida "Meri" Aguilar, 63, passed away on 31 August 2021 in Salinas, California. Meri was born in Mexico on 29 April 1958 and moved to the United States when she was thirteen years old. Meri did not want to leave her home in Mexico, where she aspired to become a school teacher, but her goals changed once acclimating to an American lifestyle.
Meri discovered her love for performing arts at Salinas High, and later went on to receive her Associates in Theater Arts at Hartnell College and a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Arts at San Jose State. But Meri's first accomplishment was her daughter, Meri Aguilar, whom she had at nineteen years old.
After graduating from SJSU in 1982, Meri aspired to return to Mexico to become a professional actress but her goals changed again. Meri worked many jobs before discovering her knack for real estate. She transitioned to Real Estate in the late 80s. In 1985 she met her husband, Roberto Marquez. Her second accomplishment was her daughter, Carolina Marquez, whom she had in 1994. By the late 90s, Merilida began attending Calvary Chapel of Salinas and from then on she became involved in multiple ministries such as: Crisis Pregnancy Center (now Confidence Pregnancy Center), Victory Mission of Salinas, and Westside Bound for Life. She is survived by her husband, Roberto; daughters, Meri and Carolina; and grandchildren, Evelyn and Tony.
