Mercylin's obituary

With great difficulty, our family is formally announcing the passing of our beloved Mom "Matriarch", who left this earth and transitioned to be with her Lord on December 21, 2022. At the age of 74. Mercylin Ellis lived a full, inspiring and impactful life, one that we will try to emulate as long as we live.

On March 21, 1948, Mercylin was born in the beautiful garden Parish of St Ann to parents, Samuel McKenzie and Ruby Berry. She resided in her earlier years in the communities of Benseton and Bamboo, St Ann.

On December 16, 1972, Mercylin married the love of her life, Alsius Ellis and the union shared over Fifty (50) years in the bliss of love and produced six (6) children. The union then relocated from Golden Grove to Great Pond Ocho Rios where they contributed to that community and the church family before relocating finally to Breezy Hill, St. Mary.

Mercylin was a caring wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Mercylin  spent most of her years nurturing and caring for her  children while her husband  worked on the seas.

Mercylin was a devout christian who about 1973  at the age of 25, she received a unique call to God and did not hestiate to answer the call by baptizing in Jesus Name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Thereafter,  Evangelist Ellis spent the rest of  her life serving God, laboring in the vineyard and ministering to many souls. An eptimone of a true missionary at heart, who had a sincere passion to see the saving of souls and the spreading of the gospel of Jesus Christ who through her life and personal ministry saw many others surrendering their lives to God and have also themselves gone on into ministry.

Mercylin served as a Minister of the United Pentecostal Church of Jamaica. At the Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church, Great Pond she served in many capacities such as Missions Director, Sunday School Teacher, Evangelist and a Counsellor and Prayer Intercessor for many persons.

Mom had a love and passion for many things such as baking, sewing, cooking, playing the paino but nothing to beat her passion for the love of the word of God and prayer.

Mom you will be truly missed. You were a icon to us children and grandchildren; you and the cherished memories we have of you will forever be etched in our hearts forever.

Mom, You have ran well, You have fought the good fight of faith and we are assured that there is laid up for you a crown of righteous. Rest in the hearts of your saviour Mom,  until we meet on that great getting up morning when Jesus shall come. Look for us, for we will be there too.

Mercylin Ellis is survived by Six (6) children , Robert, Donald, Wayne, Dean, Sherrie and Corey , Sisters, Brothers, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
