Mercedes J. Shaykett “19 yrs old “ born 8-12-2002 and passed away Feb 3, 2022. She lived in East St. Louis, Illinois. Mercedes was a very smart young lady that had a lot of dreams that she wasn’t able to follow because her curiosity of knowing her biological father sent her the other direction… unfortunately her passing was a shock and unexpected. Searching for her father she ended up in a bad situation after learning he wanted nothing to do with her and she turned to drugs and alcohol. On Feb 3 I received a call that she had overdosed on fentanyl. “Investigators are investigating her death considering her OD level was .74 and a OD level is .3.
She was a happy child and loved her siblings and animals.
