Melvin Zimmerman passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, in Southampton, NY, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on December 6, 1938, to Abe and Pauline Zimmerman, Mel was raised in New York City. He was the former owner and CEO of the Concord Chemists drugstore chain and later served as Senior Vice President at Helmsley Spear, Lansco, and NAI.

Mel was the devoted husband of Abyna, his rock of 46 years, loyal brother to the late Edward, loving father of Matthew, Paul, and Lori, and beloved father-in-law to Erin, proud grandfather of Carlin and Daniel, who brought him endless joy.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Humphrey Jones, whose extraordinary care, love, and kindness helped sustain Mel for nine remarkable years.

A celebration of Mel’s life will be held this fall in Southampton, NY.

Contributions may be made in Mel’s honor to Christ Church Day School, 524 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10065, a place close to his heart where Matthew, Carlin, and Daniel each began their educational journey.
