Background
My beloved mother, Melody Johnson, was a very kind and generous person. She was a very special woman, who taught me the importance of faith, humility, selflessness, and empathy. Even in her very last moments, she had the upmost will and determination to fight until the end. My mother was a giver to the nth degree, and I plan to honor her and her legacy to the best of my abilities.
My mom was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer on December 8th, 2018. Throughout this journey, she had tried over 8 different types of chemotherapy drugs, had countless CT scans/MRIs/PET scans, had complications such as grade 3 papulopustular rashes, a hiatal hernia, bilateral vocal cord paralysis, as well as, months of severe pericardial effusion & pleural effusion. At one point, she was taking around 20 different medications a day to try and control her symptoms. Her health went downhill very suddenly starting on December 25th, 2019, and ultimately let to her demise on January 4th, 2020. What has happened is beyond comprehension and we are still in shock.
Understandably, my dad is struggling to cope, so I am stepping in to organize my mother’s funeral. I have already had numerous texts and messages from people asking how they could help, so this campaign has been created as a way to keep everyone up-to-date with plans, and also offer a place for messages and donations to be left.
My mother always went above and beyond with party planning & decorations for others, and she loved to bringing people together; therefore I would love to give her the send off she deserves. If you would like to donate, just click on the donate button and donate whatever you can. If you are not able to donate, don’t forget you can still leave messages and comments for my father & to read.
Funeral plans are still being arranged, and any updates regarding locations and times will be posted here. Make sure you follow this page so that you receive any updates regarding the funeral.
