Melissa's obituary
Melissa Ann McDonald-Rose, 42, passed away on February 2, 2026, at her home in Flushing, Michigan, surrounded by the people she loved most.
Melissa was born in Bridgton, Maine, to Eric and Denise Knight, and built a life rooted in creativity, and devotion to family and friends. She made her home in Flushing, where her warmth and presence were felt by all who knew her.
Melissa was the beloved wife of Shawn Rose and a devoted mother to her daughter Elisabeth, and stepdaughters Madeleine and Annabelle, whom she loved wholeheartedly. Family was everything to her.
She is also survived by her sister Ashley (Jim) Fox; brothers Shane (Kelly) Rose, Kyle Rose, and Joshua Wood; her cherished niece Dakota Fox; nephews Gideon Fox, Even Fox, and Lincoln Rose; her parents-in-law Eric and Dana Rose; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were touched by her generous spirit.
Melissa had a creative soul and a compassionate heart. She found joy behind the camera through photography and gave her time volunteering in animal rescue, with a special love for cats. Her kindness was quiet but powerful, and her love was given freely, without reservation.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring, with details to be shared at a later time.
May her memory be a blessing—and a reminder to love fully, without hesitation.
