Melissa's obituary

Melissa Grabner Schrieber Emberton was born in Oakland, CA to Harry and Nila Grabner and attended Oakland Schools, graduating from Skyline High School. Missie had several jobs in the East Bay. From her first job at Diamond florist and her catering business to her final job at PG&E. Missie was a dedicated and dynamic worker. Because of her amazing generous personality and hard work, she made lasting friends out of co-workers. She made them her family. She was a cherished work Mom and Gramma to so many. She didn’t let moving to another job end her relationships. Many of them stayed in touch.

Missie was a driving force with the PG&E Legacy Project that matched employee and retiree participation in community efforts. Of those, her personal commitment was the Alameda County Food Bank. She volunteered her free time, and recruited her family as well.

Missies’ primary focus was her three children, their families and friends. As a single Mom, she was always putting her children first. She volunteered her time to their schools, their activities and gave them opportunities to excel. Their friends were always welcome and she added everyone to her family. She was happiest feeding anyone who stopped by. Besides watching the Hallmark channel, Missie enjoyed cooking, baking and holiday decorating. Her other love was her garden and her extraordinary green thumb added canning the harvests to her accomplishments. She shared her produce with anyone who walked by her ‘front 40’.

She is survived by her son, Kristian Schrieber {Trinity}, daughters, Amber Schrieber and Corrine Eaton, her beloved grandchildren Kristian Jr., Katie, Conner, Chloe, and Aidan. She’s also survived by sister Annette McCord {David} and brother Tom Grabner {Carol}, and adored nieces, nephews and their children. So many will miss her love, generosity and special holiday gatherings.

A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on Oct 12th from 11am-12 at Faith Fellowship Foursquare Church located at 577 Manor Blvd, San Leandro.
