A Heart of Gold
Today we gather to celebrate the life of Melissa Ann Dorris-George, a enthusiastic individual whose presence enriched our lives in countless ways.
Melissa was born on February 13, 1980 to Mr. Donald Dorris and Mrs. Annette Dorris. The little girl who grew up in South Pasadena, California. Melissa had a love for animals. She was the student who always brought home the classroom pet for the weekend. The family later moved to the Inland Empire where Melissa graduate from Etiwanda High School in 1998. After graduation Melissa attended Mt. San Antonio College. Melissa pursued a career in veterinary studies. Melissa was a devoted volunteer for "Animal Protection Organization" at any given time you could always find a rescue dog in her home.
Melissa had a family of four 4-legged babies. Her first baby was a great big gray cat name Tubby who was quiet as a mouse, 2nd baby was a Alaskan Malamute name Smokey who loved to howl, 3rd baby was a black and white Boston Terrier name Smegal who always had a toy in his mouth, 4th baby was a brown Boxer name Hoss who was given to Melissa not expected to live, but Melissa never gave up and Hoss made a remarkable recovery.
The outdoors for Melissa was a fun time. Melissa enjoyed kayaking, hiking, camping, fishing with her pink fishing pole and she enjoyed a dip in the jacuzzi. Melissa love music and dancing and going to concerts with her cousin Robin and karaoke with brother Dj and a good game of chess with friend Jared. Melissa adored her niece Zoey Maree who loved to play board games.
If you knew Melissa you would know she was a snacker. She enjoyed displaying her charcuterie boards, a true work of art. Melissa and Mom enjoyed sharing recipes and don't forget the grape jelly at the breakfast table something Dad and her shared. It was always barbecue time with brother Dj. Melissa enjoyed a good tasting Churro ( a Mexican donut ) a favorite desert of hers. Let's talk about movies I know everyone has a favorite movie and Melissa had her favorite " A Dog Journey".
The day of Melissa accident she was airlift to Doctor's Hospital in Modesto, California where she passed. Melissa was a Organ Donor. We later received a letter that Melissa saved three lives with her Organ donation. Melissa had a heart of gold.
Leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion, Melissa now joins her beloved family in Heaven: Grandparents Henry & Jennie Martinez and Preston & Melzenna Dorris, Nino Arturo Gonzalez, Auntie Sharon Dorris, Auntie Linda Martinez and Cousin Richard Jaimez. She is survived by her parent's Donald & Annette Dorris, Nina Jennie Gonzalez, Sister Danna Smith, Brother Donald Dorris Jr., Nieces Anniston Smith, Zoey Maree Dorris, Nephews Joshua Moreno, Elijah Smith, Aunts Rosemarie Shulman, Alice Sanchez, Darlene Hurtado, Cherylene Cotton, Uncles Stanley Dorris, Henry Martinez, Ricky Martinez, Harry Martinez and host of cousins and good friends.
