Joyce's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Melinda (Joyce) Baumgardner. Born on February 20, 1949, Melinda's life was a testament to love, kindness, and dedication. She passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, leaving a void that will never be filled.
Joyce is survived by her loving partner, Bela(Bill) Szocs, her cherished children, Michelle Baumgardner and Bill Baumgardner, and their respective spouses, Jenifer Baumgardner and Brett Greenlaw. She was a doting grandmother to Jaden Greenlaw, Lauren Baumgardner, and Lindsey Baumgardner and a loving parent to her stepchild, Devon Szocs. Her family was her pride and joy, and she nurtured each bond with unwavering love and care.
A memorial service in honor of Joyce will be held on July 25th, 2025, at 11:300 AM at Oceans Unite Christian Centre. As we come together to celebrate her life, we invite all who knew and loved her to join us in remembering her legacy of love and grace. We will be hosting a celebration lunch following the service.
Joyce was a valued member of the Indian River County Sherriff’s Department where she worked for over 15 years. Joyce had a zest for life that was reflected in her varied interests. She loved Italian food and savored her coffee. A fan of country music, she enjoyed listening to Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, and Rascal Flats. Her favorite TV shows were Golden Girls and King of Queens. Green was her favorite color, perhaps reflecting her love for life and growth.
Family meant everything to Joyce. Her favorite pastime was spending quality time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren. Her exceptional qualities as a mother and grandmother were appreciated by all who knew her. She was a caring, affectionate person who was loved by many.
Joyce leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness and grace. Her love, warmth, and kindness live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be immensely missed, but her spirit continues to inspire and guide us. As we remember Joyce, we continue to celebrate her life and the love she shared with us all.
