Mel's obituary

Mel Tacazon Soriano, 69, of Fresno, California, passed away on February 6, 2024. Born on March 14, 1954, in Quezon City, Philippines, Mel was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Mel was known for his funny and laid-back personality, as well as his kind and loving nature. He had a great sense of humor and always knew how to bring a smile to people's faces. Mel had a passion for singing karaoke and enjoyed watching movies in his spare time. He also loved taking his dogs for walks and spending quality time with his grandchildren at the playground. Mel liked to look for deals on clothes and shoes on Tuesdays and cut his hair every day. In his professional life, Mel was an auto technician for 40 years, working with Toyota and Nissan in Fresno, Madera, Selma, and Clovis. He was highly skilled in his craft and dedicated to providing excellent service to all. Mel was a devoted officer of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, serving as the Head Deacon in the local congregation of Fresno for 33 years. He had previously been a choir member, assistant choir leader, and Children's Worship Service teacher. His faith was an integral part of his life and brought him great joy and fulfillment. Mel is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Eden Cabanero Soriano, and their children Melissa Ann Manzano, Miranda Rae Crossan, and Megan Courtney Soriano. He was a proud grandfather to Ayla Jade Crossan, Phoenix River Crossan, and Juliette Ann Manzano. Mel also leaves behind his mother Anacleta Soriano and siblings Mila Corpuz, Marilou Guerrero, Mary Ann Calamba, Myrna Esposo, Manuelito Soriano, Maria Theresa Soriano, Maria Elizabeth Kerns, Marvin Soriano, and Mona Lisa McCormick. He was preceded in death by his father, Milagroso Vargas Soriano, nephew Justin Soriano, and best friend Roy Soriano. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Mel's life will be held at Chapel of the Light in Fresno, California. The compassionate staff at Chapel of the Light is assisting the family with the arrangements. Mel Tacazon Soriano will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His memory will be cherished forever.
