Meeyoung's obituary
Meeyoung Park, aged 61, was called home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 3, 2026 in San Antonio, TX, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Meeyoung was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. She received her degree in political science at Ewha Women’s University in Seoul. She met an American GI on the ski slopes of Yongpyong. They fell in love and quickly married, and she immigrated to the United States in 1989.
She became a mother to her first son, Minsoo, in 1990, followed by her second son, Joonsu, in 1992. Meeyoung loved music and later received her master’s degree in Piano at Northern Illinois University. Her family remained in Lisle, Illinois, where she was an active and dedicated member of Naperville Korean First Presbyterian Church. There, she faithfully served her church community, including serving on the praise team/choir and playing the piano.
In October 2021, Meeyoung moved to San Antonio, Texas, to be closer to her “baby boy”, Joonsu. She quickly became an active member of Han Ma Eum Church, continuing her life of service and generosity within her new community. Her faith in Jesus guided every part of her life, and she found great joy in serving others.
In May 2022, Meeyoung was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. She fought tenaciously until her last breath and defied doctors expectations time and again. Her love for her family kept her with us for as long as she could.
Meeyoung loved taking peaceful walks, spending cherished time with her family, and caring for her beloved cats. She was gentle, selfless, and steadfast in her love — a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a faithful servant of God.
Meeyoung is survived by her husband, Daniel Park; her two sons and their spouses, Joshua (Jessica) and Timothy (Grace); and her two grandchildren, Charlotte and Luke.
We will be holding two services to celebrate and honor her life. The first will be in San Antonio, TX on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 11:00 AM (HanMaEum Church: 10603 Culebra Rd San Antonio, TX 78251).
