Maxine's obituary
Mrs. Maxine DePuy Johnston Fricke passed away of natural causes at the age of 90 years old on January 7th, 2025 in Kingman, AZ.
Predeceased by her first husband, Cecil Johnston, originally from Morrisville, NY and by her second husband, Keith Fricke of Kingman, AZ, and grandchildren David Johnston and Kate Madison, she is survived by her eight children - Doug Johnston (Karen), Greg Johnston (Nancy), Terri Johnston Fraracci (Patrick), Larry Johnston (Chris), David Johnston (CJ), Darlene Johnston Maidrand (Greg), Mark Johnston (Maureen), Debbie Johnston Duffy (Kevin), several beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, and one great, great granddaughter.
Born to Max and Effa DePuy in Hamilton, NY, Maxine was raised in Eaton, NY where she was heavily involved in music and drama programs throughout high school.
Settling in Morrisville, NY with husband Cecil, Maxine continued to use her talent (while raising eight children), participating in Gilbert and Sullivan productions in Hamilton, directing church choirs and singing solos and duets there and in various other venues throughout most of her life.
But her talent and creativity didn't stop there. She was also known for her ability to see what could be and make it happen, her excellent cooking and baking, and sewing everything from everyday clothes for her eight children to suits, snowmobile suits, and wedding dresses.
She was a remarkable woman and will be missed by her large family, and the many friends she made in NY, CA, and AZ.
