Max and I met years ago through a punk rock Facebook group and it was the start of one of the most cherished friendships in my life. He cared deeply for those he met and always made me feel like I was right there with him. He used to video call at crazy hours just show how cute the neighbours cat Wally was being in the Ratrod then go on to talk about his dreams and plans for working on it. I’ll forever be grateful for him helping me through my conversation to Judaism, and even more grateful for his telling me how to make a “hella good latke” and calling my very first Chanukah so I wouldn’t be alone even if he was with his family. Often he would talk about making the long drive to Atlantic Canada for Poutine and to go to Nova Scotia to a garage he was fond of, but also so he could sneak my cats away with him. He was the best friend anyone could ever ask for. Words cannot express how wonderful of a friend he was, or how much sunshine he brought into peoples lives. We’ve been through thick and thin together, and I’m proud to not only call him friend, but brother.

I colored and put up his mohawk. This was shortly after first meeting him.

Max and I could talk for hours. I would drive over to his parents' house in Fremont, and we would just catch up with each other every couple of months or so. He was always so good at telling stories about things that happened to him, and he always made it entertaining. Animals and children loved him, and he loved to show them his attention and care. He never missed an opportunity to pet Trouble (our cat) or play with Alice (our dog). Trouble would sleep with him whenever he spent the night with us at our apartment. He always tried to convince me to work with him at the Pirates of Emerson (he thought that I would do a great job doing makeup since I'm a former cosmetologist). For 17 years, I had the privilege of calling him my best friend. We had some amazing times together, and my life will never be the same without him in it. We used to reminisce about Chase, and he would remind me when the anniversary of Chase's passing was, so that I could go and visit Chase and leave a smoke for him. I told him how I felt bad about missing Chase's service because my daughter was too little to go, and I didn't have a sitter. He would always tell me that Chase would have been ok with that because my daughter turned out to be a cool kid. Sorry, I'm rambling on. There are just so many memories, and it's all a jumble right now.

I've been with Pirates of Emerson since 2022. When I first came, I was nervous. Max greeted me and made me feel welcomed. His kindness and optimism made me relax. He made me laugh. I like many will miss him a lot.

Myself and max bumped into each other on streaming apps and the story's he would tell was so funny. The only person who could make something funny but still hold a straight face 😂 his love for his beetle bug was amazing we would sit for hours on call talking mechanics even though he would say he didn't have a clue lol max was a one of a kind and a true gentleman of a guy and anyone who knew him would know this.
