Maurine's obituary

In Loving Memory: A Courageous Mother's Journey

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a truly remarkable woman, our mother, Maurine Moglia, who peacefully departed from this world on June 30, 2023. She was a beloved wife, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a shining example of strength and resilience. Maurine faced unimaginable challenges throughout her life, yet her unwavering spirit and unconditional love touched the lives of all who knew her.

Born on May 31, 1929 Maurine embraced life with boundless optimism and an infectious smile. Fate dealt her a cruel hand when at a young age she lost her beloved husband in a tragic automobile accident that also left her with severely damaged legs, being told she would never walk again.

Despite the immense pain, grief and loss, she found the inner strength through her faith to carry on for the sake of her three young boys; John, Anthony and Robert. It was in these difficult circumstances that Maurine discovered the depths of her indomitable spirit. She refused to let her disabilities define her. Instead, she worked exceedingly hard to walk again and transformed her limitations into inspiration for her three boys. Through her perseverance and resilience, she taught them the invaluable lesson that no obstacle is insurmountable with determination and love.

Raising three young boys single-handedly is a daunting task under any circumstances, but Maurine approached it with grace and unwavering devotion. She became their guiding light, their unwavering source of support, and their rock in times of hardship. Her boundless love created a nurturing environment that allowed her sons to flourish and grow into the men they are today.

Maurine was not only a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, but she also managed to touch the lives of countless others in her community. Her warmth and generosity knew no bounds, and she selflessly offered her help to anyone in need. She became a symbol of hope and resilience, inspiring others to find strength in the face of adversity.

Beyond her role as a mother and pillar of strength, Maurine possessed a myriad of talents and passions. She loved being with her family. She had a deep love for literature, spending countless hours immersed in books, often reading 4-5 books per week, and her love of the outdoors, taking long walks especially across the UC Berkeley campus where she worked for almost 20 years.

In the memories we hold dear, Maurine's vibrant spirit will forever shine. Although she has left this physical realm, her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of those she touched. We take solace in knowing she has been reunited with her beloved husband and finds eternal peace in their embrace with God.

Maurine leaves behind a cherished legacy of love, resilience, and compassion. Her sons, John (Joy), Anthony (Lorna) and Robert (Karen), her grandchildren; Patrick, Kate (Patrick), Matthew (Felise), Morgan (Cameron), Lisa, Alexa (Randy), Lindsey and Rachel, and her great-grandchildren; Mila, Anthony, Mari, Gianna, Juliette and Liam are a testament to her remarkable spirit, carrying her light into the world. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

As we gather to celebrate the life of Maurine, let us remember her unwavering strength, her unwavering love, and her unwavering spirit. May her memory serve as a reminder to embrace each day with gratitude, to find strength in adversity, and to cherish the precious moments shared with our loved ones.

In honor of Maurine, a rosary, funeral and interment will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 9:00am at St. Joseph Cemetery, 2540 Church Ln, San Pablo, CA 94806. We invite you to join us in bidding farewell to this extraordinary woman who touched our hearts and inspired us all.

Rest in eternal peace with God mom, you have left an indelible mark on our lives, and your legacy will endure forever. We love you.
