Maurice Blanchard, born on February 12, 1965, in Bridgetown, Antigua and Barbuda; his journey through life was marked by love, joy, and an unwavering dedication to his family and friends.
Maurice spent his formative years on the beautiful island of Dominica, where he enjoyed swimming in rivers, visiting local shops, and working in the banana fields. These cherished experiences in Dominica remained close to his heart throughout his life.
In his early adulthood, Maurice moved to America and began working as a gas attendant. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Cynthia. They wed on February 16, 2001, creating a beautiful, blended family. Together, they raised five daughters and one son, filling their home with laughter, music, and banter. Maurice and Cynthia shared a special bond, often enjoying evenings out with friends, listening to music, and traveling with their large, loving family.
Maurice found his professional home within the NYC hospital system, ultimately settling at Bellevue Hospital. Known for his quiet demeanor, his warmth and joy shone through as he formed deep connections with those around him. He was a dedicated, hardworking man who always prioritized his family. In his free time, Maurice loved watching Westerns, listening to Soca music and podcasts, and savoring delicious meals.
One of Maurice's greatest passions was dancing, a joy he frequently shared with Cynthia. She fondly remembers him as her best friend, a man whose love for her and their family was evident in every smile and dance step. Maurice's big personality and even bigger heart left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
On May 25, 2024, at the age of 59, Maurice unexpectedly passed away. He is survived by his beloved wife Cynthia, his children: Tabitha, Tyra, Tamara, Tatiana, Starr, and Jonathan; his granddaughter, Ma’Leiah; his mother, and his extended family.
Maurice Blanchard's life was a testament to the power of love, joy, and family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his warmth, his laughter, and the light he brought into the lives of all who knew him.
