Maureen's obituary
Maureen Patricia Solano, a long time resident of the Grand Strand area, passed away on Friday, April 14th, in Calabash, North Carolina; in the company of her mother and hospice caregiver, Norma Marin.
Maureen was born in San Jose, Costa Rica in March of 1970, and in October of 1980, immigrated to the United States with her brothers Walter and Paul Solano, and her parents; Norma and Walter Solano Sr. After immigration, her brother Gabriel Solano and her half-brother Rafael Solano were born.
Maureen was a lifelong proud alumni of ECU Wilmington, always speaking fondly about her time as a flutist in the school marching band. In 1998, she gave birth to her firstborn child, Marina Hill, by her then-husband, Thomas Hill Jr. In 2007, she gave birth to her second child, Aleahna Jimenez, to her then-partner, Leonardo Jimenez-Romero.
Maureen was passionate about all members of her family and was a lifelong believer in God. Maureen had aspirations to become a paralegal, and received her degree in paralegal studies in the hopes of pursuing that career path. Maureen loved music, always finding something new to listen to, never afraid of branching into different cultures and languages. A worldly woman, she was always eager to try new things and experiences, never losing her childlike wonder and curiosity.
Loved by many, Maureen’s presence would light up any room that she entered. She is survived by her family - her parents, siblings, and children. Calmly, and at peace, she closed her eyes one last time, and departed from our mortal coil, no longer experiencing pain.
