Maureen Ann Poertner, 71, of Traverse City, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on December 19, 2023. She loved Jesus and wanted others to know about the hope that she had in Him.

Maureen was born on October 20, 1952 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Elmer and Juanita Nelson. She was preceded in death by her sister Connie Melchert (husband Roy). Maureen was educated at Michigan State University.

Maureen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She married her best friend Tom Poertner in 1990, and they spent 33 joyful years together. Maureen was a trusted Insurance Agent with State Farm for over 26 years. She was a treasured friend to many, but above all lived to serve and love her family. Maureen loved baking desserts and giving heartfelt gifts to her family and friends. She was the epitome of selflessness and would do anything for her family. She loved Jesus and wanted others to know about the hope that she had in Him. She will be deeply missed by many.

Surviving to cherish her memory are loving husband, Tom Poertner; sons, Dustin Lipps, Dan (Melissa) Clark, Jesse (Stephanie) Clark; sister, Margo (Rod) Soule; brother, Ron (Char) Nelson, brother, Ken (Pat) Nelson; grandsons, Adam (Kelly) Clark, Jack (Tatum) Clark, Ben Clark, James Clark; granddaughters, Sarah (Miles) Eastman, Grace Clark, Kennedi Lipps, Della Clark; great grandchildren, Edith Eastman, Mabel Clark, Irwin Eastman.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Spring 2024.
