Maureen Cosgrove McCarthy, 80, of Spring Lake, NJ, peacefully passed away at home on May 5, 2020. A devout Catholic, Maureen’s unwavering faith brought her comfort and courage while battling cancer as well as grace in her transition to Heaven.

Born on April 29, 1940, in Queens, NY, to Owen & Ellen Cosgrove, Maureen was the beloved sister of Bill, twin Noreen, Cathy (predeceased), and Owen. She graduated from Resurrection Ascension High School in Rego Park, NY, before attending Hunter College. Maureen’s professional pursuits included a modeling career with her identical twin and an exciting chapter with global advertising agency, McCann Erickson. Yet, Maureen would tell you her greatest accomplishment was also her greatest love – her family.

Maureen’s cherished family began 57 years ago when she wed lifelong love, Jack McCarthy. Together they nurtured five loving children: Kieran (Maureen), Brian (Jennifer), John (Eileen), Kevin (Catherine), Meaghan (David Nadeau); and, 10 adoring grandchildren: Dave Jr., Teddy, Finn, Rory, Tatum, Royer, Shane, Kerry, Kellen, and Mary. Maureen will be sadly missed as devoted wife, dedicated mother, talented homemaker and “our dear Nanny”. Her boundless compassion, generous spirit and ready smile will be long remembered by the myriad friends and neighbors she leaves behind in Suffern, NY (her home of over 25 yrs.), Little Egg Harbor, NJ, and most recently, the shores of Spring Lake, NJ.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, the immediate family will attend private funeral services on at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 8th at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 NJ-35, Wall Township, NJ 07719, (732) 449-6900. A burial ceremony will immediately follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery, 1610 Allenwood Road, Wall Township, NJ 07719.

Maureen finished every call with “God Bless”. Our time with Maureen was the greatest blessing of all!
