Matthew's obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Matthew Tyler Moreno on May 17, 2024, who was also affectionately known as Mateo, at the age of 39. Born on May 7, 1985, Matthew blessed us with his vibrant presence for nearly four decades.
A beloved son to Polly Cavner (Brad) and Mark Moreno (Deb) , he was a cherished brother to Kyle, Carl, Emma Cavner and Tiffanie Moreno, along with his sister-in-law, Areli Cavner. He was a treasured nephew to Aunt Brandi Cavner, Aunt Jenni Jones, Aunt Tami Jones, Aunt Maria Brown, Aunt Anita Moreno, and Uncle Thomas Cavner, and numerous Cousins and extended family. Our family was not expecting Matt's life to be cut so short so soon. We are all devastated by this huge loss and he will be forever missed.
Matthew was a man of immense energy and passion, characterized by his adventurous spirit. Those who knew him will remember his caring and generous nature, and could be felt by anyone he came in contact with. He had a special gift of not only seeing the best in people, but bringing out the best in them as well. His life was a testament to living fearlessly, and he always encouraged others to follow their dreams.
Never one to sit idle, Matthew was an active individual. His love for the outdoors was evident in his favorite pastimes, which included hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and boating, and traveling on many family adventures to Disney and the Caribbean.
In his professional life, one of his greatest accomplishments was the creation of NV WYLD, his photography business, a significant achievement that he was incredibly proud of, and very good at. His photographs were featured in Nevada Magazine. Furthermore, Matthew was passionate about Ju-Jitsu, a cause he deeply cared for and actively promoted.
Matthew a Military Veteran, joined the United States Navy in 2003 after High School. He served on the USS Kitty Hawk, stationed in Okinawa Japan. This is where he gained his love of seeing the world.
Matthew kept people rolling in laughter because he found humor in the most mundane of life circumstances, whether appropriate or inappropriate. He loved playing practical jokes on people. Matt loved his younger siblings, always supporting them in their extracurricular activities, taking pictures, attending events. He taught them to fish, shoot, hunt and to just have fun.
Matthew's untimely departure is a significant loss to us all. He left many meaningful and happy memories for those who knew him and loved him near and afar. Although he is no longer physically present, his spirit lives on. His life's lessons and memories will continue to inspire us, and last a lifetime. His legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of all those who knew him and we will live our lives to the fullest.
