Matthew's obituary

It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my soulmate and beloved husband, Matthew Szczepanski.

My Matthew, at only 45 years old, was the light in my life and the lives of our children and his dogs - whom he so loved. His humor, intelligence, and quirky charm brightened every room he walked into. He had a way of making everything better with just his smile, laughter and "matthew-isms". Though his time with us was far too short, the memories we created will last a lifetime.

Matthew was a force of nature, a person who could bring a smile to your face even on the hardest days. His creative humor was infectious, and his ability to turn any situation into a moment of laughter was one of his greatest gifts. Whether it was a clever joke, a witty remark, or a playful quirk, Matthew had a way of making those around him feel seen, appreciated, and entertained.

But beyond his humor, Matthew was a man of generosity, great intelligence and insight. He had a mind that was sharp and always curious, constantly seeking to learn and explore. He was the kind of person who could engage in thoughtful conversations on almost any topic, offering fresh perspectives and challenging those around him to think in new ways.

Matthew’s presence in our lives was a reminder that it’s the little moments—the laughter shared, the inside jokes, the quiet conversations—that leave the most lasting impressions. His warmth, kindness, and intellectual spark will be deeply missed, but we know that he will live on in our hearts, in our stories, and in the memories we cherish.

Matthew, you are a one-of-a-kind soul, and while we are heartbroken to say goodbye, we are incredibly grateful for the time we had with you. Your love, humor, and brilliance will continue to inspire us every day.

Rest in peace, my love, my soulmate. You will always be missed.
