Matthew's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Matthew Paul Skingel- Airman, brother, son and friend to many. Matthew was born on July 12, 1985 and took his final breath on May 17th, 2025. He will be remembered for his vibrant, witty and steadfast spirit.
A man of many virtues- Matthew was best known for his dedication, loyalty, and strength of character. His motto " Adapt and Overcome" was not only prominent in his time serving the USAF, but in his every day life. As much as his natural leadership qualities and drive were a beacon for many, his witty sense of humor and quirky behavior never failed to lighten a room, offering a sense of levity for those around him.
Matthew's life was never short of commendable achievements, from his remarkable career as hockey All-Star to decorated Staff Sergeant Skingel. His many degrees, including a Master's in Management & Organizational Leadership, were a testament to his love of education and endless curiosity. Above all, Matthew's proudest achievements were his countless stories of wild adventures, friendships forged through adversity, the poetry in the way he saw the world, and the people he brought together and impacted forever.
Matthew is survived by his father Edward, mother Patricia and sisters, Constance, Amanda, Jessica and Jaclyn, who will remember him fondly as a beautiful son, protective brother, and amazing friend. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life for Matthew will take place on June 8, 2025, at 5:00 PM at The Granfalloon in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
