Uncle Matty helped my farther. His baby brother Joseph achieve his dream. They opened Orsi brothers Italian American bakery. In New Rochelle, NY. My cousin Donna came to help. My uncle is also my godfather. After my dad died he would stop by time to time. And make sure I was doing well. Even in death. I know he’s always there. He’s always watching over me.

During ones working career you come across many people. I had the good fortune of landing a job with Nasdaq. I eventually became Matt’s partner and for 3 years we shared a routine. We had a law enforcement connection and shared many a war story usually over lunch. I enjoyed our exchanges and admired his love and care for his family.
Carry on Matt until that time we meet again.

Matty will be missed by all who enjoyed seeing him at the 43 Dinner get togethers. Rest in peace Matty - Mike Russell
Dear Uncle Matty, You were a charmer with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Here are just a few things that come to mind when I think of you.

1) You called me "Donna Rose". I LOVED that you included my middle name. 💗
2) You took me and Marco to the 1977 World Series which turned out to be one of the great "classic" Yankee games of all time. 3 homers by Reggie and the championship! Priceless.
3) At 14 years old, you gave me my first job at Orsi Brothers Bakery. I've been working ever since! Best bakery perk: bringing home canolis every weekend!
4) You made the world's best sausage bread and the entire family looked forward to it at every occasion. (I missed out in recent years because I no longer eat pork!).
5) Your mom so proudly displayed a photo of you in uniform from the police academy. You were one of the "straight" ones who served with honor. 👍 You made the whole family proud.
6) You were quite the social butterfly and had some serious skills in the dancing and singing department. 😊
7) You were one of the best story tellers I've ever known and I thoroughly enjoyed every word - especially the stories from your private investigating days when you had to "get the goods" on cheating spouses!
8) You were so in love with your grandson and loved bragging that he looks just like you. Did he?!? 😉 According to you we all "look just like your Uncle Matty". LOL
9) You were dedicated to your family. 💙 I especially admired that you made sure your mom and Aunt Cookie wanted for nothing until the end and you did your best to accommodate the never ending requests of Uncle Al.
10) I love that our last conversation was me asking you "How do you make your pasta fazool?" which evolved into a conversation about making "gravy". Today I am making pasta fazool in honor of you.
You will be missed by many people on many levels. Rest peacefully and keep the Orsi crew in line up there! 🙏
Ronald Diaco- Matty , I have known you most of my life I have spent many hours around you arlene and liza and i cant remember a time where we did not laugh . As a young man you gave me solid advice and I looked at you as a pillar of society . You and the family have taught me that being family does not always mean the sharing of blood. I cant remember ever coming to your home once and not being greeted warmly and affectionately . I have seen you walk friends through the darkest of hours and give all you had to give.I am very very sure you were greeted by god with opened arms and heart . Rest in peace knowing your work was thoroughly done here on earth as a Man , Husband , Father , Grandfather ,Friend and mostly as a heroic protector of the public , for which you put your life on the line everyday for most of your life . I will not say goodbye , but i will say till we see each other again . Rest in peace matty .
Matt was a great man and a true New York original . He was a straight shooter, told you exactly the way he saw things, and was mostly right in his viewpoints.
Matt presented a tough exterior but it did not take long for you to realize that he was actually quite the “softee”. His world was centered around his family and he had the great parental instinct to worry and hope for their happiness.
I had the good fortune to spend two and half hours a day with Matt for a decade. Many of these days were long and hard, but it was always refreshing to start and end with Matt. Many days we talked a lot, other days we talked little, but our strong human connection was ever present and heartfelt.
Till we meet again,

Bob g

To Liza, Chris, Nicolas and Arlene,
So sorry for your loss. Our thoughts, love and prayers are with you at this time and always. We were so happy we got to meet Dad. He surely loved his Nicolas.🙏❤️🙏. My most wonderful memory is when he sang to you, Liza, at your beautiful wedding. He was so happy!

My cousin Matty Orsi!! Loved hanging with You and enjoying nights out with You cuz!!! Rest in everlasting peace cuz!!! Will miss you deeply!!! Till we see each other on paradise!!! Goodbye for now!!! Love You Cuz!!!
As a young boy, I had much admiration and love for my Uncle Matty. I chose him to be my confirmation godfather. He lived up to that role by treating me with love and respect. Also, by spending time with me that led to many great moments together. One of my fondest memories was the time he took me and my sister Donna to a World Series game. It was October 18, 1977. The Yankees beat the Dodgers that night and became World Champions. It was also the night Reggie Jackson hit 3 home runs and became “Mr. October”.
I actually have the blue bleacher seats that we sat on that night. What an incredible experience. Thank you
Uncle Matty. Love you and miss you ❤️
