Matthew's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Matthew Brown on June 13, 2023. Born on August 16, 1974, Matthew was a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Matthew is survived by his loving brother, Marcus Brown; his sister-in-law, Caroline Walters-Brown; his niece, Chloe Walters-Brown; and his nephew, Oliver Brown. He was predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Sue Brown.

Matthew was an accomplished scholar who graduated from Erskine College with degrees in chemistry and biology. During his time there, he was awarded the prestigious Barry Goldwater Scholarship in recognition of his exceptional talents in the sciences. Matthew went on to contribute his expertise in the research department at the University of Minnesota, where he made a significant impact in the field.  Matt found work in the chemistry field after college. Glaxo-Welcome in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Eli Lilly in Indianapolis, Indiana. He finally settled in at Amgen in San Francisco, California. He lived in San Francisco for fifteen years. He moved back to Alabama in 2018 to be closer to his aging parents. Since returning to Alabama he has worked as a car salesman, and was currently working at Woody Anderson Ford in Huntsville, Alabama.

Matthew will always be remembered for his intellect, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones and his work. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched and the lasting contributions he made to the world of science.

May Matthew find eternal peace and comfort in the company of his beloved parents, and may his family and friends find solace in the memories of the time they shared with him.

Services will be held at a later time, and the family asks for privacy at this time.
