Matthew's obituary

In loving memory of Matthew Richard Lawrence, a remarkable soul who embraced life with compassion, creativity and boundless innovation.  Born June 23, 1987 to Douglas Lawrence and Olivia Davis in Tacoma, Washington, Matthew embarked on a journey that enriched the lives of all fortunate enough to share in his adventures.  He peacefully departed this world on February 23, 2024 in Seattle, with his family and friends by his side.

Matthew was a true wanderer at heart and his creative spirit knew no bounds, leaving a mark on the hearts of friends and family alike.  Matthew was not only well known but also deeply loved in his community, his presence a source of inspiration and joy to all who encountered him.  He was fun-loving, carefree and an incredible listener, who truly cared and understood with no judgement.

In his younger days, he enjoyed video games, riding quads at the sand dunes, was a baseball catcher, played the piano and trombone, did Tae Kwon Do, loved running around in the woods, camp fires and fireworks. As an young adult, he enjoyed fishing, bungy jumping and riding the slick track in Destin, Florida.  In addition to his love of reading, Matthew was passionate about history and was a firearm enthusiast. He had a deep appreciation for the historical significance and craftsmanship of antique guns.

In a final act of profound generosity, Matthew chose to be an organ donor, gifting the precious gift of life to individuals in need.  His heart was given to a woman in her fifties who now looks forward to seeing more of her family and friends as well as doing the activities she loves.   Matthew's kidney was given to a man who now enjoys greater energy without the burden of dialysis. Through his selfless decision, his compassion extended beyond his time on this earth, leaving a legacy of love and generosity.  He is truly missed beyond words and deeply loved by his family.

A Celebration of Matthew's Life will take place  Saturday June 22, 2024 at 1 PM at Martinez Bible Chapel at 4352 Columbia Rd, Augusta 30907, where we will gather to remember the vibrant soul who touched our lives with his humor, kindness and creativity.

Matthew is survived by his daughter Brianna; mother Olivia Davis (Mark); father Douglas Lawrence (Lisa); brothers Dave (Rickie), Joshua, Zachary; sisters Justine (Shane), Natalie; nephews Tyler (Ali) and Davis; nieces Olivia (Brett), Kaylee (Joseph) and Elizabeth and all the extended family in Georgia and Washington.
